Leo D. Carton was born on August 17,1971 and raised in Barangay Fabrica, Sagay City,Negros Occidental, Philippines.
Year 1995, officially joined “Pintor Kulapol” a group of artist founded by Mr. Nunelucio Alvarado,an International Artist and a member of Black Artist of Asia.Inspired and influenced by his works achievements,he pursued a course at La Consolacion College, Bacolod City,with the Bachelor of Science in Fine Arts.Opportunity came ,joined the Metrobank Foundation Incorporated Young Artist Painters Annual in 1998 ,and luckily my entry “Sa Diin Ako Makadto” ( Saan Ako Tutungo / Where Do I Go) was one of the semifinalist.Yet,due to financial constraints I stopped schooling in the succeeding semester.With the utmost desire to become an artist, I continued my painting skills and artistry with Pintor Kulapol and have had successful exhibitions.
Exhibit known as “CINCO DE NOVIEMBRE” sponsored by Museo Sang Bata sa Negros discovered my art potential and had me as an artist.With determination, efficiency and skillfulness became the Head Artist of Marine Exhibit of Museo Sang Bata sa Negros in Barangay Old Sagay, Sagay City, Negros Occidental.Profound endeavor and workmaship I was appointed as one of the artist to conduct Children’s Art Workshop at Museo Sang Bata sa Negros,Sagay City and Museo Pambata ng Maynila, Roxas Boulevard Metro Manila.Year 2006, I became in-artist,a tour guide and a children art workshop facilitator of Museo Sang Bata sa Negros, Sagay City.In 2009, I am one of the major artist of an Art Workshop on the Integrated Visual Arts Training for the children of fishermen and cultural minorities.Spearheaded by DepEd Division of Sagay City and the National Commission for Culture and Arts Manila.At present, still an active, skillful member of “Pintor Kulapol”.
March 14-19,2005, first one man show “VENDORS” a five day Exhibit for Cause was held and the proceeds goes to the children of Sagaynon’s for their arts materials on a free summer art workshop at the Museum.
March 14-19,2008, second one man show “DOS” was held at the Du-ag Sagay Artist Village.
