I was born in MĂĄndok, Szabolcs SzatmĂĄr County, on November 2, 1947. My birth name is ErzsĂ©bet HalĂĄsz. In addition to painting, I have also been writing poetry since 1996, at which time I took the name MĂĄndoki, where I was born, as a sign of my respect. I took the surname ZsĂłka as my stage name. So my full name: ZSĂKA MĂNDOKI HALĂSZ
My whole life has been accompanied by the love for the arts, the desire to create. Already as a child, I fell in love with the various tricks of embroidery, because at that time weaving and spinning were all done at home.
I also lived the everyday lives of rural people.
In 1994, I saw the works of a naive painter on a television program. Then I decided that I could paint this too.
That’s how I started painting in July 1994 without any prior training, I didn’t know the paints or what you could paint on. I went to the art supply store and asked for their help, they recommended acrylic paint. I had to suffer a lot before I realized everything.
The multi-shaped compositions make the paintings authentic, but I also preserved the instinctive originality. I usually work with mixed colors, with oil/acrylic paint, on canvas, wood fiber, cashiered canvas. I also like to work with pastel chalk on ingres paper. Today I also try to create urban images, since I live most of my life here.
My first solo exhibition was in 1995, followed by two hundred exhibitions in Hungary to date, but I also exhibited in Slovakia.
They could admire my works at several national and foreign exhibitions, in Stuttgart, Prague, Vienna, Rijeka, Weinstad, Tallinn, Slovakia, Korea, Japan, Libya, Ukraine, the Netherlands, the United States and Poland.
My works can be found in domestic institutions (the Hungarian Naive Art Museum in Kecskemét) and in private collections in Hungary and in many parts of the world. I selflessly support charitable requests from foundations.
My work has been recognized with several art awards:

2000 in the Millennium Year – NIVĂ award of the National Association of Creative Artists.

A Szabolcs SzatmĂĄr Megyei MĂĄndokon szĂŒlettem 1947. november 2- ĂĄn. A szĂŒletĂ©si nevem HalĂĄsz ErzsĂ©bet. A festĂ©szet mellett 1996-tĂłl versĂrĂĄssal is foglalkozom, ekkor felvettem a MĂĄndoki nevet, ahol szĂŒlettem, a tiszteletem jelĂ©ĂŒl. MƱvĂ©szi nĂ©vkĂ©nt felvettem a ZsĂłka utĂłnevet. EgĂ©sz Ă©letemet vĂ©gig kĂsĂ©rte a mƱvĂ©szetek irĂĄnti szeretet, az alkotĂĄs vĂĄgya. MĂĄr gyermekkĂ©nt megszerettem a hĂmzĂ©snek kĂŒlönbözĆ fortĂ©lyait, mert abban az idĆben a szövĂ©s â fonĂĄs mind otthon törtĂ©nt.

1994-ben egy televĂziĂłs mƱsorban lĂĄttam meg egy naiv festĆ munkĂĄit. Akkor elhatĂĄroztam, hogy ezt Ă©n is meg tudnĂĄm festeni.
Ăgy kezdtem el 1994 jĂșliusĂĄban festeni minden elĆkĂ©pzettsĂ©g nĂ©lkĂŒl, nem ismertem a festĂ©keket, hogy mire lehet festeni. Elmentem a mƱvĂ©szellĂĄtĂłba, Ă©s kĂ©rtem a segĂtsĂ©gĂŒket, Ćk az akril festĂ©ket ajĂĄnlottĂĄk. Sokat kellett szenvednem mire mindenre rĂĄjöttem.
A sok alakos kompozĂciĂłk teszik hitelessĂ© a festmĂ©nyeket, de megĆriztem az ösztönös eredetisĂ©get is. ĂltalĂĄban kevert szĂnekkel dolgozom, olaj/akril festĂ©kkel, vĂĄszonra, farostra, kasĂrozott vĂĄszonra. SzĂvesen dolgozom pasztellkrĂ©tĂĄval is ingres papĂrra. Ma mĂĄr prĂłbĂĄlok vĂĄrosi kĂ©peket is alkotni, mivel Ă©letem nagyobb rĂ©szĂ©t itt Ă©lem meg.
ElsĆ Ă¶nĂĄllĂł kiĂĄllĂtĂĄsom 1995-ben volt ezt követte a mai napig kĂ©tszĂĄz MagyarorszĂĄgon, de kiĂĄllĂtottam SzlovĂĄkiĂĄban is.
