Uncanny Voices of Grand Canyon
By
Hillol Ray
The Grand Canyon, where shadows of clouds
Hover peacefully throughout the whole year-
And the sleepy sun appears to be burning,
For the global visitors to behold and cheer!
Shades of hill-top trees change their colors,
Under the tinctured veil of serene starry sky-
Shaking their rattles, chanting, and clutching
With the whirling romance of the passersby!
Selfish winds continue to battle and stride,
To split the monotony of lightnings’ pain-
And the peaks of distant hills start to dance,
Like scarlet demons in acrid smell of rain!
The sun rolls slowly with a “mummied face”,
Beneath the crevices and heaps of velvet sky-
And the rainwater behind the rainbows pour in,
To let her disappear and say a solemn goodbye!
Forlorn clouds prefer to float in a lazy procession,
And the “Goodyear Blimp” bobs cleverly around-
While black-dappled walls of the mountain homes
Extinguish last red wisp of sun to be heaven bound!
The morning showers surround the Grand Canyon,
With fauna as well as the kinship with mankind-
And the battered scraps of rocks falling downhill
Emulate the uncanny voices for the ghosts to find!!

Hooded Serpent With Curved Fangs
By
Hillol Ray
On its last chapter, my life resembles a “crane”
That has lifted weights of many tons and pounds-
And the grasp of brain didn’t go through drain,
To arrive where it’s today with a joy as it sounds!
Vibrant strength of success in this epic life
Now fashions the charms of our planet’s delight-
And shifts the loads of somnolent griefs with mirth
This life has endured, but now they’re out of sight!
As a weaver of words, my spirits weaved like a loom,
And moved on an unmoving Earth or an uncanny tree-
But who knows when and where the “shuttle” will rest,
On a rocky hill or a beautiful fjord to set me free?
My life is cocooned with fears drenched in waling tears,
And the regrets, hesitations with doubts follow through-
Just like the limbs of a moving crane in audible actions,
Over the years, as my enchanted brain focused and grew!
Inaudible mandates, instant obedience with submissiveness
Stretch the habitat’s and mankind’s hidden desires on Earth-
Of fabulous sunsets, waves, and the moon-bewildered dreams
Cling as the “nest” that we watch since our holy birth!
Destiny crawls on its own claws over the passage of time,
With an absolute ease as the heavy sack of worry hangs-
And the rhythmic faith, hope, fortitude, and love
Transcend me into a hooded serpent with curved fangs!!

Halcyon Nests
By
Hillol Ray
Beneath the abandoned throats of sea forests,
Dreams cling to my tranlucent brain-
With a faint radiance, may be by chance,
And the eye brows reflect to motivate my eyesto train!
Obscured faiths lean on their shoulders,
Like embracing the hands in freezing cold-
And braid the rough hairs beterrn the breasts,
But tilt upon the sand dunes with a touch of gold!
The passionless air hangs heavy on spider webs,
And the fallen petals from flowering bushes soften the pathway-
But my tideless mind drinks the nectars of joy,
From the narrow throats of jasmines as they sway!
Nameless drunkards of the untamed turbulent sea
Draw the contours of shattered moonlit night-
Through the shadowed throats of sea forests
With half-conceived beauty within their uncanny sight!
The reckless clouds in my lunatic vision
Lay their breasts upon the tidal sea-
And the sullen winds from the eastern sky
Solicit my quills movement to say: “We love Thee”!
The rows of palm trees speak with soft acclamation,
And the turtles cry with crocodile laughter-
While the quivering swan s are lulled by whisper,
And topple the summoning desireof my quill after!
Wandering winds from the sea forests
Carry on their task of welcoming joy-
Hindered by mathematic splendor of the sphere’s chime,
As if incessant to a child adorned by the toy!
My pinnacled head begins to search for halcyon nests,
But fears upon losing their freedom cloud the eyes-
And my quills try to curtain off rhe eyes with sleep,
Bemused by the antic spirits sprinkled from the skies!!
